Breathing Underwater

BREATHING UNDERWATER is an exhibition that asks what it means for Black men to survive in emotional environments where breath itself has often been restricted. For generations, Black masculinity has been shaped by expectation, silence, resilience, and survival. This exhibition explores the interior lives that exist beneath those expectations the private waters where vulnerability, love, pain, and healing coexist.

BREATHING UNDERWATER ultimately asks: What becomes possible when Black men are given space to feel, reflect, and speak freely? What transformations emerge when breath is finally allowed to move without resistance?

In this gallery, breath is reclaimed. Silence is broken. And beneath the surface, a deeper understanding begins to rise.
